Kinetic Attends LCIC Conference in Toronto
The Lean Construction Institute of Canada (LCIC) held its second annual conference from May 3rd to the 5th at the Marriot in Toronto this year. Three Kinetic team members attended including Trevor Coyle.
Dennis McCallum of Kinetic joined Trevor and Tom Plumb as well as many of Canada’s largest contractors and most experienced Lean practitioners.
“The keynote speakers were futurist and award-winning author and lawyer Rex Miller as well as professor and Lean consulting expert Dick Bayer – who Tom and I previously attended a site tour with in Seattle,” Trevor recounts. “There were many other speakers, including Tom and myself!”
The conference also included a training day with courses on Value Stream Mapping, Target Value Design (both of which Trevor attended), Choosing by Advantage (which Tom attended) and the AGC/LCI Modules 1 and 2 – Intro to Lean (which Dennis McCallum attended).
“The atmosphere of acceptance and open communication around continuous improvement culture was what I enjoyed the most about this event. The mindset of the individuals at the conference was inspiring.” Trevor continued to mention that his main take way from the conference was, “Lean is a journey to a paradigm shift in organizational culture, not a set of tools for the field.”
